a selection from the Atget rephotographic project

Eugene Atget was a French photographer who lived from 1857 to 1927.  Atget first worked as a sailor and then an actor before taking up the camera. Begun in the mid 1890's, his photographic documentation of old Paris and its environs is one of the most thorough ever made of any city.  These rephotographs are a tribute to him and to the enduring nature of Paris.  My sincere thanks to Jennifer Lam and Cheryl Borris for all their help.
